Recovery shows in leading indicators before it shows in grades. This tool helps you surface the leading indicators you have been generating but not counting. Takes 15 to 20 minutes. Your work auto-saves as you go.
Section 1, write a brief baseline of where you were in Week 1 across five domains. Section 2, write where you are today across the same five domains. Section 3, the comparison renders automatically. Section 4, pick the three biggest leading indicators that have moved. Section 5, contrast that with your grade. The point of this tool is to make leading indicators visible before they show up in your grade.
Cast your mind back to Week 1. Use your Week 1 audit if you saved it. For each domain, write a sentence or two about where you were. Be honest, not retrospectively dramatic. Real description, not a story.
Same five domains, where you are now in Week 5. Specific is better than vague. "I focus better" is vague. "I can do 45 minutes of retrieval practice without checking my phone, where in Week 1 I could not do 15" is specific.
Your Week 1 entries on the left, your today entries on the right, domain by domain. The gap between the two is your leading indicator. If a domain has not moved, that is also data, and worth a conversation with your facilitator.
Pick the three biggest gains from the comparison above. Write each as a specific observation, not a feeling. "My recall is sharper" is a feeling. "I can answer questions in lecture without notes for the first time all semester" is an observation. Observations are what you trust when the grade has not yet caught up.
Now contrast the leading indicators above with the lagging indicator. Do not edit your leading indicators based on what the grade shows. The point of this section is to see the gap between them.
